Monnet
Company history
In a city where men work in the mines, women knit at home: it is a way
to make something of their time and to assume a complementary income for
the family.
At that time, Mr Monnet is hosier. Manufacturers
from Montceau-les-mines ask him for some contract manufacturing and the
company begins to expand.
1938:
After moving to Savoie in the French Alps , Mr Monnet gets involved in
the making of sport socks. He buys a sock knitting machine, the Komet
gauge 3 to manufacture his first sport socks.
1939:
Because of the war, and the scarcity of raw materials, he creates the
brand TRICOBEL, which manufactures gloves, a product which needs fewer
raw materials to be produced.
1952:
First professional fair in Germany that leads to a partnership with the
French national ski team. This event is a turning point in the history
of the company.
Over the years Monnet becomes the reference
in ski socks and gradually expands into other sport sectors:
trekking, cycling, tennis, golf, hunting, etc…
Today Monnet covers all sport segments
with high quality products. Search for perfection is engrained in the
Company culture from design to final quality inspection. Although Monnet
utilises some of the most recent circular electronic knitting machines,
the Company has maintained an attitude of true “Craftman”.
In 2007 the company evolves it Brand identity and
