Hiking
Monnet designs men's and women's hiking and trekking socks that protect your feet : They are knitted with Montceau-les-Mines, in France. Our goal is to provide you with a hiking sock that offers long lasting comfort !
Comfortable hiking socks
By opting for a quality hiking shoe, you ensure unmatched comfort: You will get better ventilation, less friction, and you will be able to continue your hike. without worrying about potential blisters.
Indeed, Our hiking and trekking socks greatly reduce friction. Thanks to their protective construction: discover the Friction-Free®, a polyester with a very low coefficient of friction. Their thickness is finely crafted: Today, each of our hiking socks is designed with a variable thickness depending on the areas.
A protection zone can be found on the shin and ankle bone. The tips of your toes, where your toes are located, are also a very sensitive area, and we paid attention to them as well. A reinforced toe cap will protect your toes and metatarsal from rubbing and impacts with the shoe.. Elsewhere, the sock maintains a thinner thickness, with a breathable mesh, in order to allow for breathing and sweat evaporation: Stay dry !
Our trekking and hiking socks are seamless at the toes: A seamless hiking sock will provide you with the guarantee of minimal friction at this place! Combined with the reinforced toes and heels present on all our models, you will finally be able to walk without worrying about discomfort.
You will find hiking socks made from natural materials and synthetic materials, with low or high cuffs. Make your selection !
The height of hiking / trekking socks
The height should be chosen based on the height of the shoes being used. In general, there are 2 "shaft" heights for shoes and therefore for hiking socks.
- High hiking socks are designed for high-cut hiking boots (intended for medium to high mountain treks). These socks will provide a suitable interface for high-top shoes and therefore protect your foot from rubbing. As a reminder, high shoes will firmly support your ankles, especially on unstable or steep terrain.
- Low-cut hiking socks are suitable for shoes with so-called "mid" or "low" uppers. They will be the perfect interface with lighter hiking shoes.. "Mid" or "low" shoes are suitable for occasional hikers on easier terrain. They will also suit experienced hikers with good physical condition, who prefer the lightness and flexibility of low shoes (at the expense of ankle support).
The materials making up your hiking socks
The choice will be made between two families of materials: synthetic materials and natural materials.
The great advantage of synthetic materials is that they dry quickly. This can be a significant advantage if you are in a humid environment or if you cannot wait long for your socks to dry.
Wool hiking socks
Monnet manufactures Merino wool hiking and trekking socks. Our socks are knitted in France, in Montceau-les-Mines, using high-quality materials. Merino wool is an excellent ally for hiking and trekking.
Merino wool hiking socks bring multiple benefits. The most important of them is undoubtedly its thermoregulating properties. Merino wool hiking socks will keep your feet warm in the winter: Thanks to the fineness of this natural fiber, you will be protected from the cold and you will be able to hike in total comfort. Wool hiking socks are therefore particularly suitable for cold conditions !
In addition to being suited for cold weather, our Merino wool hiking and trekking socks will also protects you from heat strokes. Indeed, merino wool is also one of the best materials for hiking in hot environments: Merino wool can wick away your sweat like no other material. Merino wool can hold water up to 33% of its own weight. The warm air then promotes the evaporation of moisture towards the outside. This process leaves a feeling of freshness on the skin. Our merino wool hiking socks can therefore evacuate your sweat and keep you dry effectively.
Another advantage of Merino wool hiking socks : they will greatly minimize foot odors. The presence of bacteria that break down sweat is the cause of unpleasant odors. Faced with this phenomenon, synthetic materials like polyester are not suitable: They will not provide any barrier to the occurrence of odors.
Know also that the Merino wool hiking socks do not scratch. Their natural fiber is very fine (between 16 and 24 microns) and they even provide a lasting sensation of softness on your feet.
Finally, our wool hiking and trekking socks are produced in France, in Montceau-les-Mines. Get yourself a pair of Made In France socks: Quality and ethics at the same time !
Choose the thickness of your hiking socks
Our hiking socks have different thicknesses:
- There are thin hiking socks: They are perfect if you have limited space in your shoe or if you like to feel the shoe close to your foot.
- There are also thick hiking socks: They provide a little more comfort, like hiking socks with extra cushioning. They also take up more space in the shoe. Be careful when choosing thick hiking socks: If your hiking shoe doesn't have enough room, you might feel uncomfortable compression. In that case, opt for medium or thin socks.
The thickness of hiking socks is not necessarily a guarantee of warmth: A thick sock will not necessarily be warmer.
If you are looking A hiking sock suitable for winter And in extreme cold weather, turn to a model of merino wool trekking socks !

Maintenance tips
To extend the lifespan of your hiking socks, here are some useful tips:
Wash your socks in the washing machine using a 30° program, especially wool socks. Use a low spin speed. Let them air dry, do not use a dryer as it could damage the fibers. Use a detergent and cleaning products that contain mostly natural components to preserve the fiber quality. Do not iron them.
